Roebling Tea Room
I’m not ever really inclined to write about my dining experiences, since most places in New York are phenomenal and I find it more useful to blog about the places I hated, but last night I had such a phenomenal meal from top to bottom I have to share. Especially because it took place in Williamsburg, a place that I try to avoid as much as possible. We tried to get into Fette Sau, a place...

Yikes
I’m working remotely for the next month in a new office and it’s (un?)fortuntely located directly across the street from City Bakery.  In the last week I have had two of their ridiculous hot chocolates ($6 for a large, which is, like, completely exorbitant) and topped with handmade marshmallow for an extra dollar, which it never even crossed my mind that a marshmallow is something that...

A small slice of normalcy.
It feels like 2011 began with the world deciding to spin off its axis a bit, doesn’t it?  Birds falling out of the sky, nations rioting, fish popping up dead in the sea, and not a person I know who has said, “you know what, this year is going okay for me so far!” Which is why I’m so thankful to come home to my own small slice of normalcy.  Tonight, after my second 14-hour...

The NY Post is reporting a man fell into a tortilla-mixing machine in Williamsburg.  This is the most horrific, oddest death I’ve ever heard.

Pretty awesome. peterwknox: Kevin Smith’s Red State Premiered at Sundance, and Vulture Was There — Vulture As he explained, the movie took 25 days and cost $4 million to make. If he sold it for $6 million, it would still take $20 million to market. But since that $26 million doesn’t go back to the movie team or the studio or the distributor, you have to make $50 million just to get to the...

Book Count 2011
First off, thank you to everyone for their suggestions on books to read. I’ve got a great list going and feel the Kindle is going to be a bona fide extension of my hand before year’s end. Book No. 3 on the year was Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood, a book I’ve wanted to read forever but for whatever reason, never got around to.  I’m also pretty ashamed I’ve never...

Totally agree. DeNiro was classless up there - pay someone to write your speech for God’s sake. He’s only been spared the media attention today because of the Gervais hullaballo - which let’s be real, he only said things out loud that we already know.  No one saw The Tourist, Tom Cruise and John Travolta have been complete weirdos for some time and all these awards shows are...

2011 Book Count
I fell a little short of the 52 books in 52 weeks goal I set last year, so this year, with the help of my new Kindle, I’m trying again! Though I technically started it in the last days of 2011, the first book I finished this year - and it’s a long one so it took me well into January - was The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet.  I think this is probably one of the best books...

“The ones who love us best are the ones we’ll lay to rest And visit their graves on holidays at best The ones who love us least are the ones we’ll die to please If it’s any consolation, I don’t begin to understand them” - The Replacements. Trying real hard to remember what to take to heart, and what to just let go.

Clear signs of aging.
I woke up out of a dead sleep at 7:30 a.m. without an alarm. Muscle memory. I never forget to set my alarm - but I fell asleep last night after drinking a whopping two sangrias.  Gone are the days of raging all night and then stumbling out of bed, bleary-eyed, just barely making into work “on time” at 9:15.   Sigh.

…from the 10 minutes I watched of the People’s Choice Awards that Robert Pattinson is IN LOVE with Kristen Stewart. And I’m okay with this because Ryan Reynolds is back on the market and therefore, destroying the competition x1000. (LOL IS THIS POST FROM 2009? RPatz?
